Mocktails That Will Keep Everyone Cool This Summer

Mocktails are growing in popularity, and we totally understand why. First of all, as more of us begin to be more health conscious, people are starting to cut down on their alcohol consumption. While enjoying a drink every once in a while is absolutely fine, drinking regularly can take a toll on your health. However, cutting back doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a delicious drink this summer. Here are some fantastic mocktails to try out that everyone can enjoy.

Watermelon Lemonade

1 large watermelon

100g golden sugar

1 bottle soda water

Lime or lemon, sliced

Handful of mint

Ice

Take a large watermelon and mash the flesh through a sieve. Add the pulp to a blender and add in lemon juice, sugar, and blend everything together. Pour the mixture into the soda and stir. Serve over ice and garnish with mint and lime slice and enjoy.

Non-Alcoholic Passionfruit Martini

3 passion-fruits cut in half

juice of one lemon

1 egg white

100ml alcohol-free spirit

1 teaspoons simple syrup

ice

sparkling grape juice

Add the flesh of the passion fruit into a cocktail shaker. Add the egg white, lemon juice, spirit, and simple syrup. Mix everything together very well until it is frothy. Add in the ice and shake thoroughly until you feel the shaker becoming coming. Strain twice and pour into martini glasses. Add a bit of sparkling grape juice and enjoy.

Goji Berry & Raspberry Cooler

40g goji berries

150g frozen raspberries

piece of ginger, peeled and grated

2 teaspoons honey

crush ice

fresh raspberries, mint for garnish

Add the goji berries, ginger, and raspberries into a large jug. Pour 850 ml of boiling water on top and let the mixture cool before transferring to the fridge. Leave in the fridge for at least two hours, preferably overnight to fully infuse. Strain the mixture and add to another jug. Sweeten with honey, to taste. Pour over ice and serve garnished with fresh raspberry and mint.

Blackcurrant Cordial

300g golden sugar

zest and juice of two lemons

450g blackcurrants

soda water

For the cordial, place the sugar in a saucepan with 300ml water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Once simmering, add lemon zest, juice, and blackcurrant. Cook everything on medium heat until the blackcurrants start to soften and begin to burst. Strain the mixture through a sieve with a muslin liner into a heatproof container and then store in a sterilized bottle. This will keep in the fridge for up to a month. To make mocktail, mix about 25ml of the cordial, serve over 100ml of soda water. Adjust to taste.
