Hellmann’s, one of the most popular mayo companies in the country has shared that there’s plenty of egg in mayonnaise to be able to add it to create a perfectly good nog.
So what’s the deal? Mixologist Cody Goldstein of Muddling Memories hospitality company collaborated with the brand to bring the Frozen Mayo-nog and Snickerdoodle Mayo Cookie, which have been touted as “an unexpected new cocktail and dessert pairing” that are “inspired by the classic holiday tradition of milk and cookies.”
The Frozen Mayo-nog switched out the traditionally used egg with mayonnaise and includes dark rum, apple brandy, whole milk, heavy cream, simple syrup, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon, all thrown together in a blender until it has reached a smooth and creamy consistency.
In order to order a Frozen Mayo-nog, you can head to Amy Fontaine’s in New York City, which is the only establishment where you’ll find an original one. A single one of these costs $16, or for $24 you can also get it with a Snickerdoodle Mayo Cookie, which is topped with a mayo glaze.
If you won’t find yourself anywhere near Manhattan this holiday season, you can make it on your own, with the recipe available on Mudding Memories’ Instagram page.
On the collaboration, Hellmann’s has shared that its main goal is to “highlight the versatility of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and encourage everyone to get creative in the kitchen this holiday season.” That includes cocktails, which is certainly a creative take on mayo if you ask us.
In addition to Hellmann’s, other companies that have put a creative spin on the eggnog include Kellogg’s that have created a waffle-inspired Eggo Nog, and Hidden Valley caused quite a stir with its RanchNog kit.
