It’s actually quite amazing to think that someone else in the world looks just like you, and you may not even know about it. However, two men got a shock when they learned that they had the same appearance, hobbies, and name, even though they weren’t related!
Look in the Mirror
The men looked nervously at each other while they awaited the DNA results. Both men were named Brady Feigl and looked the same. However, they’d never met each other. Did their parents neglect to tell them something about their past?!
Brady 1
One Brady Feigl loved baseball and was born in Dallas, Texas. Let’s just refer to him as Brady 1 to keep things simplified. Throughout his school years, he enjoyed athletics and got straight A’s. He knew his mother was proud of him, but now he wondered if she had been hiding something!
Brady 2
Brady 2 had been born in Houston, Texas, and also loved baseball as a child. Though he was adopted, his parents loved him. He was a class clown in school and wondered if he had ever had siblings. He knew he should soon have answers when he found out about Brady 1.
A Mutual Passion
Both boys enjoyed baseball, playing throughout their teen years. Brady 2 chose to study accounting in college, but Brady 1 went into political science studies. They got good marks but never moved away from baseball. In fact, they met for the first time when they got onto the baseball team, Texas Rangers Arlington.
Identical
When the coach saw them, he laughed. However, he couldn’t tell the men apart, causing problems. On top of that, they had similar names, so they’d always show together when he called one. Finally, he did something that shocked them.
No Coincidence
The coach was upset because of the confusion during practices and games, so he told them to see if they were related. Both Brady men wondered if it was a coincidence that they looked alike and had the same exact name.
Jokes
Their beloved baseball team liked joking with the redheaded twins. Often, they referred to them as George and Fred (the Weasley twins from the Harry Potter series). Brady 2 was the class clown and decided to play along, but then things got serious.
Close for Comfort
The teammates continued with the ribbing and jokes, but it made the Brady men uncomfortable. They wondered if they were related. After a teammate said they must have had the same mother, they realized the truth had to come out!
Long-Lost Brothers
They sat down, talking about being brothers or twins. Since they were the same height, wore glasses, and had a similar sense of humor, that wasn’t too far-fetched. However, Brady 2’s eyes were blue, and Brady 1’s eyes were hazel. When they got a chance to have a DNA test, they were excited!
No End to the Similarities
Inside Edition learned of the male doppelgangers in 2018 and arranged to get an interview. The Brady men both said they had an elbow surgery, and the same doctor performed them. That’s how they finally learned about each other.
The Same Procedure
Overall, Dr. Dave Andrews was highly confused at the time. He called Brady 2, expecting to discuss the upcoming surgery with Brady 1. In the interview, Brady 2 said that he learned about his doppelganger from the doctor’s office.
Being Famous
Brady 2 claimed that the doctor’s office called his team’s trainer to ask where he was because he should be in surgery. However, Brady 2 had already had the procedure six months ago. When the story first aired about the men, people lost their minds!
Cause a Stir
Everyone knew about the Brady men and their similarities. Brady 2 claimed to get constant phone notifications, making him turn off his smartphone for hours just to get peace. The buzz on social media continued, and people said they were related or long-lost twins.
Fans Help
These two players were instant fan favorites for the team because of the interview. In fact, the two Brady men became obsessed about the possibility of being related, so they set up a Kickstarter fundraiser to get a DNA test. When they reached that number, they agreed to do it!
The Moment of Truth
The two Brady men created a big stir, so Inside Edition interviewed them again in a follow-up segment. With cameras rolling, they put saliva samples into test tubes, sealing them to be sent to the lab!
German Ancestry
One of the Brady men said he had gone to Ellis Island for information. The Fiegl’s had moved to America from Germany, so they could have had German ancestry. However, this information caused more confusion without giving them the truth they needed.
The Results
Both Brady men provided samples, sending them away for analysis. This could be a life-changing moment, and they wanted to know if the rumors were true; were they separated twins? They were nervous when the results came since they had so many similarities.
The DNA Test
As they looked through the DNA ancestry information, one Brady claimed that he saw his top result, and that made the other man shocked. Both Feigl men had Germanic ancestry of 53 percent, which is where their surname originated. Were they twins, though?!
Differences
Overall, the similarities stopped at Germanic ancestry. Brady 1 was also 10 percent Irish/Scottish, and Brady 2 was two percent Irish/Scottish. Therefore, they couldn’t be twins. Even though they weren’t related, they were still connected!
Forever Connection
Through the years, these men became friends, continuing to use those Fred and George nicknames. The coach does it, too, allowing him to tell the men apart. Overall, the DNA test experience bonded them and made them stronger. Still, they aren’t the only people with doppelgangers.
